Our scholars are always growing, learning, and showing the amazing things they can accomplish. Today, we’re shining a light on Kaiden, an eighth-grader at Elm City College Prep Middle who grew THREE levels on her math state exam. We sat down with Kaiden to learn more about her hard work and future plans.
Tell us about yourself. What do you like to do for fun?
I’m in eighth grade. I like to sing, dance, and do hair. I also like to read.
What’s your favorite part about school?
My favorite part is the community. This year, I feel like we’ve really come together. I also like to speak about my opinions to improve our school.
Why is improving your school important to you?
I want scholars to have an environment they feel comfortable and motivated in. Everyone here works as hard as any student at any other school, and when we come together and combine our ideas, we make the school a better place. I want my classmates to have drive, prosperity, and perseverance so we can be successful.
That’s great! We heard you grew three levels in math! How did you feel when you got your test results?
I was so grateful! I was really motivated and put everything into it.
What advice would you give other students who want to improve?
To get to your goal, you need to motivate not only yourself but also change your mindset. If you come into school with a bad attitude, that’s not going to get you the best results. You need to try your hardest.
So what’s next for you?
My goals are to finish the year with a 3.7 or higher. Our teachers set high expectations for us, and I want to meet their expectations--and my own. The teachers here care. My literature teacher, Mr. Reamer, really motivates me to try my hardest.
Thanks for sharing, Kaiden! Best of luck this year!
