Throughout October, our AF scholars have worn pink in honor of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. Our students stood together to raise awareness, promote early detection, and support those impacted by breast cancer.

In the United States, breast cancer continues to be the most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in women, with the American Cancer Society estimating that in 2024 there have been more than 300,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer. Black women are particularly vulnerable and face a significantly higher rate of mortality, due to disparities in health care and genetic risk.

As a community, let’s continue to support the fight for a cure and innovative research, uplift communities that are particularly vulnerable to the disease, and honor the women who have been affected.
