Black Greek organizations have long played a vital role in shaping leaders, fostering community, and uplifting individuals through service and scholarship. For Raina, the principal of Achievement First Hartford Summit Middle, joining Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was more than a college experience. It became a lifelong sisterhood that continues to influence her leadership today. Finding Community in a New Environment Attending a predominantly white institution, Raina sought a space to connect with like-minded women who shared her cultural background and values. She found that community in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The organization’s commitment to service and scholarship aligned with her ambitions, making it the perfect fit. Through Zeta Phi Beta, Raina not only formed deep and lasting friendships but also developed skills that would prepare her for her future in education. The sorority’s emphasis on academic excellence and community engagement helped shape her perspective on leadership. A Sisterhood That Lasts Beyond College For Raina, the bonds she formed within Zeta Phi Beta have stood the test of time and distance. Her sorority sisters have become an extended family, always offering support and encouragement. This sense of community has remained strong even as she transitioned into her career as a school leader. One of the most rewarding aspects of her membership is the support of her Zeta Phi Beta sisters and Phi Beta Sigma brothers in school initiatives. Whether it’s organizing food drives, assisting with student registration, or hosting staff appreciation events, the impact of Black Greek organizations extends far beyond college campuses. Integrating Zeta Phi Beta’s Values Into Leadership As a principal, Raina carries the values of Zeta Phi Beta into her daily work. Scholarship and service are at the heart of her mission, ensuring students receive the opportunities and education they deserve. By fostering a culture of excellence and community engagement, she empowers her students to strive for greatness.
