Fall is all around!  Shorter days and cooler temperatures may leave you longing for summer. But fall has plenty of excitement to offer, too!  For those who loved our summer list, we're back! We’ve put together five fun fall activities to learn and enjoy all autumn long.

Go on a Leaf Hunt.

When it comes to the change of seasons - the Northeast is unrivaled. Leaves of all colors are falling all around us! Your child can collect leaves to make a Nature’s color wheel, find leaves to bring home and paint to make their own creations, play a nature-driven game of “I Spy” or record their observations about the trees changing colors.

Get Out For a Fall Fun Run.

With the New York City Marathon just behind us, now is the perfect time to get out there and run! Physical fitness is a huge part of overall wellness, and it’s such an important part of learning and growing! As fall activities go, this might just be the most rewarding. It’s 5k season in Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island. There’s plenty of races for all ages and abilities. And, it’s a great way to get outside.

Let Your Creativity Flow.

Journaling is a great way to get out your thoughts and ideas, improve writing skills, and practice mindfulness. There are plenty of interesting writing prompts out there just for fall! Topics like “What are your favorite fall activities and why?” and “What are some activities that can boost your mood during autumn and why do they work?” can be fun and meaningful for kids and adults alike.

Embrace the Science of the Season.

Have you ever wanted to find a science activity that is perfect to do with kids in the fall? How about 19 of them? This list has you covered -- with ideas for household science projects ranging from making invisible ink with turmeric, to building a weather station with paper cups, to learning about apple variety crossbreeding.

Keep it local with your fall activities!

As always - your local library is not only a great resource for books, but also for plenty of other learning opportunities. Visit the websites of your local libraries to see what activities they have planned for the fall.
